Java 1.1 Compatible Version (Without Certificate) |
Microsoft Internet Explorer as well as earlier versions of Netscape (4.x) use a built in Java-VM of the version 1.1. In this case, the application can only be executed in a so called
"sandbox", which shows itself in the inability to save user-made routes or drawings to the local file system and the unavailability of the enhanced printing functions.
By additionally installing a new Java2 Plugin, it is possible to enable the enhanced functions on your browser.
A current Java2-VM may be obtained for free through http://java.com.

Java 2 Compatible Version (With Certificate) |
The application contains a digital signature and a valid Verisign certificate. This guarantees the user that CityGuide DMS is genuine and has not been
altered by third parties since the software has been issued by Webnologic Internet
Systems.
This is required, since the
application can save drawings and routes to the local file system in
order to open them again at a later point in time.
The enhanced functions of CityGuide DMS are based on the Java 2-Security Model and require an appropriate
Java 2-Virtual Machine. In case your browser only supports
a Java 1.1-Virtual Machine, the certificate is ignored and the
application will continue to run with limited functionality.
During application startup, a
dialogue window will inform you of the possibility to issue the
appropriate rights to the software. It may be neccessary to repeat this
step, for example, when a new version of CityGuide DMS is launched on the internet for
the first time...
The dialogue window offers you the following options:
- Run
You grant the necessary rights to the application for one session.
- Cancel
You disapprove of the enhanced rights. The application will then run in a Java 1.1 compliant mode.
- Always trust this source
You always grant the enhanced rights to the application.
- More Information
You will receive detailed information about the digital signature and the certificate in use by the application.
